Pigeon Pox Vaccine
Pigeon Pox Vaccine is a vaccination in the
prevention of pox in pigeons. Vaccine
should be administered using a follicle method on young birds within the 9th
week of age.
Remove rubber stops from both bottles and pour
the liquid into the freeze dried vaccine.
After removing a small area of feathers from
the outside of the upper leg, the vaccine is rubbed into the featherless follicles
with a hard brush. Approximately 7-9
days later check for “takes” (scabs) in the area that the vaccine was
applied. “Takes” will be most apparent over
the next 2-3 weeks.
If formation of “takes” is incomplete or does
not occur at all the vaccination should be repeated approximately 4 weeks
